What cookies are and why we use them

Cookies are small text files that a site places on the device you use to visit it, such as a computer, tablet or phone. They let the site recognise your device on later pages and on later visits, remember choices you have made, and hold information about your session while you move around. Similar technologies, such as pixels, tags and data stored locally in your browser, do much the same job, and this policy covers them too.

We use cookies for four broad reasons: to keep the site and your account with us secure, to see how the site performs, to remember your settings, and to measure our advertising. Some cookies are set by us. Others are set by the suppliers behind parts of the service, for example payments, game content, live chat and analytics; we describe them by purpose rather than by name, because the supplier behind a function can change.

A session cookie is deleted when you close your browser. A persistent cookie stays until it expires or you remove it, and the lifetime of each one we set is listed in the cookie notice on the site. Strictly necessary cookies are set because the site cannot run without them; every other category is set only if you agree, and you can withdraw that agreement at any time.

The types of cookies we use

The four categories below are the ones you will see in our cookie notice. Each describes a purpose, so the list stays accurate when our suppliers change.

Strictly necessary cookies

These make the basic functions work and cannot be switched off in the notice. They cover the following purposes.

  • They keep you signed in as you move between the lobby, the cashier and your account pages.
  • They hold a deposit or withdrawal request together while you complete it.
  • They support security and fraud prevention, including the account and age verification we carry out as the holder of a gaming licence.
  • They remember which categories you have agreed to, so we do not ask again on every page.

Performance and analytics cookies

These show us how the site is used, as totals rather than by name. We use them in the following ways.

  • They count visits and show which pages and game categories are opened most.
  • They measure loading times and help us find pages that return errors.
  • They follow the route from the home page to registration or the cashier, so we can simplify it.
  • They compare two versions of a page to show which one is easier to use.

We read these reports as trends. They are not used to make decisions about an individual account.

Functionality cookies

These remember the choices you make, so the site behaves the way you left it. They work in the following ways.

  • They store your language, your currency and the way amounts such as £500 are shown.
  • They keep the sound, graphics and layout settings you choose inside the games.
  • They list the games you have played recently, so they are quick to find again.
  • They record whether you have already seen a particular on-screen message.

Refuse them and the site still works, but you may have to set your preferences again each visit.

Marketing cookies

These support the advertising we and our partners run, and they may build a general picture of interests linked to your device. They are used in the following ways.

  • They limit how often you see the same advertisement.
  • They measure whether an advertisement led to a visit or a registration.
  • They show our advertising on other sites to people who have shown an interest in ours.

Marketing cookies need your agreement

We set no marketing cookies unless you choose to accept them. We also leave out of these audiences anyone who has self-excluded or asked us to stop sending marketing.

How to manage cookies here and in your browser

There are two places to set your preferences: our cookie notice and your browser.

The notice appears on your first visit. From it you can accept every category, keep only the strictly necessary ones, or open the detailed settings and decide category by category. You can open the same panel again whenever you like from the cookie settings control in the footer of the site, and a saved choice replaces the one before it straight away.

Your browser gives you a further layer of control. In its privacy or security settings you can usually do the following.

  • Look at the cookies stored on your device and delete them, one by one or all together.
  • Block all cookies, or only those set by parties other than the site you are on.
  • Clear cookies automatically each time you close the browser.
  • Use a private window, which discards cookies when you close it.

The steps differ between browsers and versions, and the help pages built into your browser carry the current instructions for your device. Choices apply to one browser on one device, so a setting made on your phone does not carry over to a laptop. Clearing cookies also clears the record of your consent, so the notice will ask you again. Many devices also offer a setting that limits advertising identifiers across apps.

What happens if you block or delete cookies

Turning cookies down is your choice and does not stop you using the site, but some parts will work less well.

  1. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off in our notice. If you block them in the browser, signing in, depositing, withdrawing and opening games may all fail, because every page would treat you as a new visitor.
  2. Without functionality cookies, settings such as language and display options are forgotten between visits.
  3. Without performance cookies the site runs as normal, but faults take us longer to find and fix.
  4. Without marketing cookies you will see the same amount of advertising elsewhere, simply less of it related to us.

Your safer gambling settings do not depend on cookies. Deposit limits, loss and session limits, time-outs and self-exclusion are held against your account with us, so they stay in force on any device you sign in from. This site is for adults aged 18 or over, and free, confidential help is available from GambleAware, GamCare and the National Gambling Helpline, while GamStop lets you block your access to online gambling sites in a single request.

Changes to this policy and how to reach us

We update this policy when the cookies we use change, when a supplier is added or dropped, or when the rules that apply to us change. The version on this page is the current one, and the date it took effect is shown with it. Where a change matters to you, we flag it in the cookie notice so you can look over your settings.

If you want to know more about a particular cookie, need help with the settings, or want to ask about the personal data a cookie collects, write to support@casinotropicslots.co.uk or use the live chat on the site. Our Privacy Policy sets out how we handle personal data and the rights you hold over it; please quote the e-mail address registered to your account with us so we can match your request.
